For On Camera
March 20Th
11am-5pm
Somatic techniques + on camera
Self-tapes and on-set work demand a lot from actors: focus, emotional access, and the ability to do your best work under pressure.
This one-day workshop introduces a dependable, body-based process to help you get out of your head and into your instincts—so your work can be freer, braver, and more alive on camera.
Actors will apply the tools directly to real material (audition sides or film/TV scenes) and work on camera in front of the group, connecting the practice to real-world audition and production circumstances.
If you're looking to shed habits that block your instincts and reconnect with your most alive, responsive actor self, this workshop is for you.
Designed for actors who are actively auditioning or working in film and television.
Led by award-winning director and acting teacher Ellie Heyman, whose work bridges somatic acting practice with real world circumstances.
Space is limited to keep the room focused and personal.

Workshop Structure:
Release
Actors release excess tension and inhibitions with body-based techniques, including: Michael Chekhov, Meisner, aspects of Fitzmaurice Voice Work, and many other somatic practices. If you have experience with these techniques, please be open to surprise! Ellie offers a very specific and unique way into the work. It maybe be quite different.
Body Intelligence leads to creative flow
The release work leads directly into an embodied exploration of character, objective and given imaginary circumstances. The somatic tools give actors specific pathways into rich, imaginative, emotionally alive experiences.
Direct application on camera
Ellie coaches each actor individually in front of the class on a short scene or audition side. Actors leave with their footage so they can continue to study how their released acting translates on screen.
